Information and communications technology
The upward growth curve of information and communications technology is as steep as ever. As a result of its cross-sectoral function, information and communications technology accounts for a significant proportion of the innovations in other sectors of the economy as well. In Schleswig-Holstein this is particularly true of medical technology, measurement engineering, mechanical engineering and the maritime sector. At present, some 55,000 employees in information and communications technology generate an annual turnover of just under €7.5 billion. Joint research projects between business and academia promote and are proof of the sector’s innovativeness while a custom-fit range of degree courses ensures a steady flow of young talent. The government of Schleswig-Holstein supports and subsidises a number of measures and projects to strengthen the innovativeness and competitiveness of this sector via its Future of Business Programme.
In close cooperation with the state’s centres of excellence, Cluster Management IT and Media encourages networking among IT and communications companies in Schleswig-Holstein. The goal is to improve cooperation between business and academia, intensify the transfer of know-how and technology, and promote innovations through collaboration.
WTSH acts as a broker in bringing together business people and academics for joint projects and also provides advice on grants and subsidies. Just get in touch – we can help!
